Support for People with Disabilities - NDIS
Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) delivers the NDIS Program to provide comprehensive, culturally sensitive support for people with disabilities, focusing on Aboriginal clients in remote communities. The program helps individuals understand, access, and navigate the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), ensuring clients receive appropriate care and support to improve their quality of life.
What we offer
The PAMS NDIS Program provides a full suite of services, including:
- Support Coordination: Assisting clients to understand their NDIS plans, access services, and ensure their needs are met in a timely manner.
- Evidence and Access Coordination: Supporting clients with documentation, eligibility processes, and submission of applications to the NDIS.
- Remote Community Connectors: Local staff facilitate communication, coordination, and engagement with services in isolated communities.
- Culturally Appropriate Support: Ensuring care is delivered in a way that respects culture, community, and individual needs.
- Plan Development and Management Assistance: Helping clients develop individualised plans and liaise with service providers and the NDIA.
Who can access this service?
Clients must meet NDIS eligibility criteria, including:
- Being under 65 years old at the time of application
- Being an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder
- Having a permanent and significant disability impacting daily living and requiring support
PAMS provides guidance to help clients understand and meet these criteria, supporting individuals through every stage of the NDIS process.
Where services are provided
Services are delivered across remote and rural communities, including on-Country outreach, ensuring individuals living in isolated locations have access to NDIS support and resources.
Service hours
Services are generally available Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, with flexibility in remote communities and extended hours where needed to meet client requirements.
Funding partner
The program is funded through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and operates on an ongoing basis, providing continuous support for eligible individuals.
