Jiji Program

Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Services (PAMS) delivers the Jiji Program (Martu for Kids) to support the development, wellbeing and learning of Martu children through culturally informed, community-led allied health services.

Jiji (meaning children in Martu language) provides regular speech and occupational therapy services, supporting children to strengthen literacy, behaviour, regulation and social skills.

What we offer

The Jiji Program delivers:

  • Speech therapy and occupational therapy services
  • Support to improve literacy, behaviour and social skills
  • Trauma-informed regulation support for children
  • Training for local Martu women as Jiji Support Workers and Regulation Buddies
  • Regulation tools for schools
  • Trauma kits provided to each community

The program is delivered in partnership with WACHS, PAMC staff, and allied health teams, and is co-designed and evaluated with DPIRD.

Who can access this service

This service is available to:

  • Martu children living in Jigalong, Punmu, Kunawarritji and Parnngurr
  • Children who would benefit from speech or occupational therapy support
  • Children identified by schools, health teams or families as needing support with literacy, behaviour, regulation or social skills

Funding partner

This program is funded by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) and runs from 2025 to 2027.
