Environmental Health Program
Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Services (PAMS) delivers the Environmental Health Program to improve health and wellbeing by addressing environmental factors that directly impact people’s health in homes and communities.
The program works across Newman and the Western Desert communities to identify, manage and reduce environmental health risks in both natural and built environments.
What we offer
The Environmental Health Program provides support, including:
- Safe and healthy home assessments/evaluations
- Environmental health management plan design and implementation
- Pest and animal management
- Arbovirus (mosquito) management strategies
- Environmental health promotion
- External stakeholder engagement/advocacy
These services aim to create safer living environments, reducing the impact of communicable disease on community health and quality of living.
Who can access this service?
This program is available to individuals who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and are referred to, or directly access, the service.

Service hours
Services are available Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. Service times may be extended subject to conditions.

- Clinical referral through PAMS Clinics
- Third party referral (e.g. non clinical service provider)
- Self -referral
Fees
All services provided are free of charge to clients.
Remote Visits
Remote visits are scheduled on a priority basis.
