Healing from Trauma (Indigenous Healing Services)

Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) delivers the Indigenous Healing Service (IHS) to support children, young people under the age of 18 and families heal from tough things that have happened – like abuse, violence, or harmful behaviour. By using a combination of traditional and contemporary healing approaches, the services encompass physical, social, emotional, cultural, and spiritual wellbeing. Through individual and group therapeutic yarning, counselling and community engagement. The program aims to reduce the harmful impacts of child sexual abuse, reduce the harmful impacts of family and domestic violence and support families and communities in keeping children safe from violence and abuse.

This program is available to:

  • Children
  • Young people under the age of 18
  • Families wanting to learn ways to keep their kids safe

 

Service hours

Services are available Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.

The program is funded by the Department of Communities as part of the Child Sexual Abuse Therapy Services and Indigenous Healing Services initiative.
