PAMS thanks the Newman community for stepping up to get the Pfizer jab

For the entire first week of August, Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) administered Pfizer vaccinations at the Martumili Arts Centre for anyone 16 years and over in the Newman community.

Approximately 350 vaccinations were delivered to community members and PAMS staff, including PAMS Chief Executive Officer Robby Chibawe, PAMS Chairperson Melvin Famer, and PAMS Cultural Wellbeing Officer and Community Elder Demond Taylor.

PAMS Newman Clinical Manager, Leslie Miller praises the Nyiyaparli and Martu Elders for their leadership in getting their COVID-19 vaccinations.

“It was fantastic to see our Elders come forward as community leaders and have their COVID-19 vaccine, inspiring other community members to also get immunised,” said Mr Miller.

“All community members in Newman over 16 years of age can now access the Pfizer vaccine. It is up to us to make sure we get vaccinated in order to keep our loved ones safe.”

PAMS Chief Executive Officer, Robby Chibawe thanks the community for stepping up to receive their COVID-19 vaccination to help keep the community safe.

“Vaccination is the most effective way to protect against COVID-19 and it was wonderful to see so many community members coming forward to get vaccinated,” said Mr Chibawe.

“Thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves to get vaccinated, thereby encouraging other Martu to come forward for the vaccine,”

“I would also like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the PAMS team for working together for the common good of our community,” he said.

“I look forward to rolling out the Pfizer program for the remote communities from the 16^th of August.”
