Parnngurr Community

Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service provides medical services to the community of Parnngurr trough a Remote Area Nurse that is based in the community. Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service were able to open a new clinic building in Parnngurr in late 2018 which will enable the service to continue supporting Parnngurr community into the future. A GP visits Parnngurr on a regular basis to compliment the care provided by the Remote Area Nurse, together with other visiting services.

Parnngurr Community was established in the 1980's when groups of Martu decided to move back to their country. In 2002 Martu were granted native title to much of their country, which was the largest Native Title claim in Australia at the time. One of the first buildings opened in Parnngurr in the 1980's was the school which has stood strong, providing education to the young people in the community. The community further features a store and an office.
